Learn how to make your own Tulip Poplar Bark Berry Basket!

In the Appalachian region, Tulip Poplar bark is the most commonly used material to create containers for berries and other wild foraged plants. Each student will learn how to harvest the bark by getting hands-on experience peeling it from the tree. They will learn how to assemble the materials and fashion them into baskets to take home. The class will cover what other tree bark can be used, the best season to harvest the bark, as well as sustainable harvesting practices.

Register by purchasing this class and paying the $25 class deposit before June 15th.
Full class fee is due upon arrival ($50-$150 minus the deposit), cash or checks are preferred for payment, on the day of class June 22nd. The class will start at noon and run until approximately 5pm. Everyone creates at different speeds, each student will be making a unique basket, so the end time will differ between students.

Class size will be limited to 20 and taught either outdoors or inside a well-ventilated garage, depending on weather; at the artist’s home just outside of Athens, Ohio.
