Tulip Poplar Bark Baskets Workshop - May 20th

Tulip Poplar Bark Baskets Workshop - May 20th

$25.00

Learn how to make your own Tulip Poplar Bark Berry Basket!

In the Appalachian region, Tulip Poplar bark is the most commonly used material to create containers for berries and other wild foraged plants. Each student will learn how to harvest the bark by getting hands-on experience peeling the bark from the tree. They will learn how to fold the bark into their own “Appalachan Berry Bucket” to take home. The class will cover what other tree bark can be used, the best season to harvest the bark, as well as sustainable harvesting practices.

Register by purchasing this class and paying the $25 class deposit by May 18th.

The class is offered at a sliding scale of $50-$200. We trust our community to pay what works for their budget and to take the size of the basket you are weaving into account.

The remaining payment (decided price - $25) is due upon arrival. Cash or checks are preferred for payment, but card, paypal and venmo are also great options.

The class will start at four and run until approximately 8pm. Everyone creates at different speeds, each student will be making a unique basket, so the end time will differ between students.

Class size will be limited to 10 and taught either outdoors if weather permits, at Soul Shine Earth Farm just outside of Athens, Ohio.
